Karim Benzema continues to make history in a Real Madrid jersey. Thanks to his goal against Shakhtar Donetsk at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, the Frenchman has now scored 290 goals in the 570 games he has featured in as a Real Madrid player. He has now equalled Santillana's tally (645 games) and becomes the club's fourth-highest all-time goalscorer.
Having already scored 11 goals in 11 games this season), Benzema has another Real Madrid legend in his sight as he closes in on Alfredo Di Stéfano's 308 goals and is now just 18 goals away. Raúl and Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 323 and 451 goals respectively, currently lead the way in the top two. The forward, who is one of the candidates to win the Ballon d'Or, scored his first Real Madrid goal on Matchday 3 of the 2009/10 LaLiga season against Xerez and has won everything going during his time at the club. His impressive trophy haul includes 19 titles: four Champions Leagues, four Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, three LaLiga titles, two Copa del Reys and three Spanish Super Cups.
Benzema's 290 goals have come in six competitions: 201 in LaLiga, 61 in the Champions League, 21 in the Copa del Rey, three in the Club World Cup, a trio in the Spanish Super Cup and one in the UEFA Super Cup. His best tally in a single season was the 32-goal haul he recorded in 2011/12, followed by the 30 he scored both last season and in 2018/19.
