Ismael Bennacer broke down in tears as Stefano Pioli held his farewell speech on the San Siro pitch last night. Indeed, it was an emotional evening for everyone and the manager discussed the matter afterwards.

Pioli expressed his gratitude during the ceremony speech and highlighted the winning mentality that has been brought back to the club. Indeed, by bringing them back to the Champions League and winning a Scudetto, the bar has certainly been raised.

During the speech, as captured by the TV images, Bennacer broke down in tears as the manager has meant a lot to his personal development. In his post-match interview with MilanTV (via MilanNews), Pioli was also asked about the Algerian’s tears.

“Isma is a very sensitive boy, he was already crying two days ago [when the announcement was released]. All the expressions of affection I received from my boys but also from the fans, from the Curva Sud, meant a lot to me, thanks to everyone,” he stated.

The 2023-24 season is now officially over and all that’s left before the summer mercato is the friendly against Roma next week. Bennacer will not get one final ride with Pioli, as Daniele Bonera will be the head coach for that game.
