Ismael Bennacer hailed Milan’s ‘spirit and hunger’ after the 3-2 comeback victory away to Frosinone, revealing the team had a special dinner to help boost morale.

It never seems to be easy for the Rossoneri, who are unbeaten in eight now, but had another dramatic encounter after last week’s 2-2 draw with Bologna.

Olivier Giroud had put them in front at the Stadio Benito Stirpe, only for a Matias Soule penalty and Luca Mazzitelli angled drive to turn it around.

However, they did not give in, Matteo Gabbia’s header and a late winner from substitute Luka Jovic securing the 3-2 result.

“We proved great spirit, we didn’t give up and that gives us confidence for our objectives,” Bennacer told DAZN.

The team had a big dinner together earlier this week, something they have done several times over the course of the campaign.

“In order to be united on the field, we must be united off the pitch too. We know all too well that having dinner together, spending time together is good for us. We wanted to have that time together.”

Bennacer was injured for most of this campaign, then straight after his comeback flew off to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations, but is finally able to give his full focus to Milan.

“I am happy to be here with the team, really. I want to help the squad as best I can, I am hungry for time on the pitch and hope to help out.”

Their unbeaten run in Serie A is now extended to six victories and two draws, keeping them solidly in third place and perhaps able to close on the top two with the Derby d’Italia on Sunday evening.

“We will watch it as a normal game. We want to win every match and tomorrow’s result will not change anything, as we will have the same spirit and hunger.”
