Manchester United are getting more proactive in their search for a new number nine this summer.
United have been frustrated so far as they have been unable to land any of Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen or Hugo Ekitike.
The Red Devils have been linked to a plethora of options such as Ollie Watkins, Nicolas Jackson and increasingly Benjamin Sesko.
It looked like for a long time this summer that the Slovenia international would be heading to Arsenal but the move collapsed after the Gunners switched their focus to Gyokeres.
It has been reported that United are currently in talks with the forward and that they are locked in a battle with Newcastle United for the attacker.
There have been suggestions that Ruben Amorim’s side hold an advantage though as he is said to prefer a move to Old Trafford, even without Champions League football.
Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has weighed in on Sesko’s future and it is good news for Red Devil fans.
Commenting on the potential transfer he outlined that, “Manchester United are not giving up on Benjamin Sesko. As revealed today, they have presented the player with clear figures and their project.”
Importantly it is also believed that “Sesko is impressed by Man United’s efforts to sign him” and this may tip the balance in the club’s favour.
Nonetheless, Newcastle are said to still be “fully in the race and not backing down.”
It has been reported that they are ready to make an offer at any time and problematically for United, “Leipzig are now demanding at least €80 million.”
It is not yet known whether United could afford such an outlay on any striker this window.
