Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard is making a late trip to Lisbon to join his team-mates and make himself available for the Champions League.
On Friday night, his side take on Barcelona and the 24-year-old has been definitively ruled out of that one.
But he isn’t giving up hope of featuring for the remainder of the tournament if Bayern make it past the Blaugrana.
Sky Sport report that Pavard travelled from Munich on Thursday morning to the Portuguese capital, where he will rejoin the rest of the squad.
He suffered a metatarsal injury in training towards the end of the July and has been struggling for fitness ever since.
Bayern left for Portugal last Sunday with the Frenchman remaining in Munich to continue his rehab but he told journalists at Munich airport that he is hopeful of featuring in Lisbon.
In addition, kicker also claim that he will return to full training on Saturday – provided the German champions are victorious the night before.
His recovery would be vital for Bayern as it would allow them to field Joshua Kimmich in his preferred midfield role, rather than filling in at right-back, where he does nonetheless excel in any case.
