The 23 year-old forward has committed his future to the Hoops with a contract running until 2030.
Nygren found the net 16 times in 32 appearances last season and racked up 107 matches for Nordsjaelland since arriving at the Danish club in 2022.
Speaking to the Nordjaelland supporters via their official website, Nygren said: “I came to FC Nordsjaelland as a young boy, and now I am leaving the club as a grown man. It has been a fantastic time for me, and I have grown a lot both as a footballer and as a person.
“It has been important for me to play regularly and get big challenges both in the Superliga and in the Conference League, and at the same time, I have played with some really good players who have helped me develop.”
“So I would like to thank all my teammates and the coaches who have helped me regain my confidence and become the player I am now. At the same time, they have also supported my personal development, where I have taken more responsibility on and off the pitch and have become a leader. I was proud to wear the captain’s armband in many of the games this spring.”
Nygren added: “I have loved my time at FC Nordsjælland, and it has meant a lot to me to play at Right to Dream Park. I am very grateful to all the fans who have supported me and the team.”
“The club and the stadium became my home. Now I’m moving on to new adventures and chasing new dreams and goals, but of course I will still follow everything that happens in Farum, because I will always have FC Nordsjælland in my heart.”
Though still young, Nygren brings international experience to Celtic, having already played in four different countries. He burst onto the scene at 17 with a move from IFK Goteborg to Genk, but regular game time was limited in Belgium, and his development was further hindered by the impact of the COVID pandemic.
Nygren was later loaned to Dutch side Heerenveen, but it was in Denmark with Nordsjaelland where he regained his form – playing every week, contributing goals, and growing into an influential figure within the squad which earned his move to the Scottish champions.
With a full pre-season under his belt, Nygren will be a welcome addition to Brendan Rodgers’ side and one the Celtic supporters will look forward to watching.
