Speaking to Sport Bild, Benjamin Henrichs confirms he thought about a departure from RB Leipzig under then head coach Jesse Marsch.
“I admit that I was thinking about a change at the time,” said Henrichs. “There was discussions with my family about how to proceed because it was a difficult time. The fact that Domenico Tedesco came in was the crux of the matter. Of course, I feel better now because I’m important to the team again.”
Henrichs joined RB Leipzig on loan from AS Monaco in 2020 before making that move permanent last summer for €15m.
The 25-year-old Germany international played just 340 minutes across nine games under Marsch before Tedesco came in. Henrichs has since played 19 games in all competitions under Tedesco.
