Will Wolfsburg’s €30 Million Price Tag Block Amoura’s Move to Lisbon?
Benfica’s Interest in Algerian Star Amoura Faces Financial Hurdle
Portuguese media've revealed that Benfica’s unexpected pursuit of Algerian forward Mohamed Amoura could be delayed or derailed by financial obstacles echoing the club’s earlier failed attempt to sign Dutch winger Anis Hadj Moussa from Feyenoord.
The speedy Algerian attacker impressed during his debut season in one of Europe’s top 5 league featuring in 34 match for Wolfsburg last season across all competitions.
He netted 10 goal & provided 12 assist earning wide acclaim and being labeled the Bundesliga’s top breakthrough talent.
According to Portugal’s A Bola, Benfica's keen acquiring Amoura for the 2025 /26 season with coach Bruno Lage strongly backing the move. However Wolfsburg’s demand exceeding 30 million euro poses major barrier.
"Amoura's listed on Benfica’s shortlist and talks with interested parties have started but Wolfsburg’s high asking price makes the deal difficult to complete at this stage" the report states.
The Portuguese giants have already spent approximately 80 million euro during this transfer window limiting their ability to meet Wolfsburg’s valuation.
"Just like with the failed attempt to sign Hadj Moussa, Benfica’s management's reluctant to pay such high fee for Amoura" the report adds.
