Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign SL Benfica midfielder João Neves. If they succeed, they’ll have outmaneuvered Manchester United to secure the young talent this summer.

According to a report from Record, Neves favors a move to PSG over Manchester United. The Portuguese outlet also mentions that Neves’ transfer to the capital club is expected to be finalized by next week.

PSG has made a €70 million offer, but Benfica is holding out for a slightly higher amount. A BOLA reports that Neves is set to sign a five-year deal with PSG, earning €5 million annually.

The teenager is eager to join PSG and is waiting for both clubs to finalize the agreement, which is expected to happen by Thursday or Friday. The transfer fee is reportedly around €70 million, and negotiations are in the final stages.

Neves played 55 matches last season across all competitions for Benfica. The 19-year-old scored three goals and recorded two assists, which earned him a spot in Portugal’s UEFA Euro 2024 squad this summer.
