The spectacular double that Alexis Vega scored against Santos Laguna that gave Chivas the victory in the Copa MX is not something that surprised manager Tomás Boy whatsoever.
In fact, on Thursday, Boy admitted that the rojiblanco striker has already caught the attention of a team from Europe.
“During the pre-season games, Benfica manager Bruno Lage asked me what his name was and I told him he was on the Mexican national team,” said Boy.
Boy did not stop praising his player and hinted that Vega could win the starting job if he continues at this rate.
“He is a player of great quality, of course he leaves me thinking. But he leaves me thinking and has me thinking about the others who are playing,” he said.
Prior to Wednesday’s brace, the 21-year-old scored just four goals in his first 19 matches with Chivas, although three of those came in a 3-0 win over rivals Atlas.
Chivas are in 10th place on four points and will look to improve on their record this Saturday when they face newly-promoted Atlético San Luis.
