Benfica are in pole position to acquire Reinier Jesus on loan, report Goal España.

According to the report, Reinier’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci has flown to Europe from Brazil to speed up operations for the Brazilian’s move. While the Portuguese club has been chosen as the most convincing destination by Reinier and his entourage, there are still several factors left before the negotiation can be closed. Goal’s report suggests that Benfica are not willing to pay the entire asking fee of €3 million to secure the loan deal.

The second obstacle to the deal is the distribution of the player’s wages. Real Madrid are reportedly not keen on paying a major part of Reinier’s salary while he is on loan at another club.

Reinier struggled to find game time and good form during his two-year loan spell at Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid, therefore, prioritise a club where the Brazilian will be able to get regular minutes. The club still retain hope for the player, and as a result, the thought of a mandatory purchase option following the loan move has not been entertained.
