There is a lot of money involved in football these days, with clubs able to make and spend millions as quickly as it arrives in the club’s bank account.

Of course, there are a number of different ways in which the funds can be acquired, with ticket sales, merchandise sales, TV revenue and other various forms of income being generated, but one of the biggest ways in which teams are able to add a huge amount to their balance sheet is by selling players.

Whilst selling top players can be a disastrous move for some clubs as it will upset the rhythm of the team and the way that they play, especially if they are unable to replace them suitably, it is sometimes unavoidable; especially if the money on offer is too good to turn down just as it is with the platforms that can be found on sites that show the best AU online casino available.

There are a number of clubs who have gone on to become ‘feeder’ clubs in a way, with the team having to continually lose out on some of the best players ever, although they have been able to reap the rewards for their efforts in turning them into those players.

Benfica are perhaps one of the most famous clubs for doing that as they have been able to find and attract young talents that have turned into superstars within a few years in Portugal and data from TransferMarkt has revealed that they have been richly rewarded for their efforts.

According to the statistical figures that cover the period of between the 2011/12 season and the current day, Benfica have managed to acquire over €1.05 billion in transfer revenue. Of course, this will have been helped by the sales of players such as Joao Felix, Ruben Dias and Ederson, as well as Angel di Maria, David Luiz and Nemanja Matic.

Joining them in the €1bn club are Atletico Madrid and Chelsea, with the current UEFA Champions League winners perhaps a little surprising to be in the club. However, with big transfer fees for men such as Eden Hazard, Oscar, Luiz and Diego Costa, then who’s to argue. Perhaps they can earn even more revenue if they were to play at the best big win casinos USA has to offer them, though?

AS Monaco sit just under the €1bn mark (€968.2 million) with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Thomas Lemar, Fabinho and Bernardo Silva having all attracted large fees. Juventus complete the top 5 with €963.1m raised, with Paul Pogba’s sale to Manchester United having helped raise a significant portion.

The final five consist of FC Barcelona (€925.4), Borussia Dortmund (€876.5m), AS Roma (€848.5m), Real Madrid (€829.5m) and FC Porto (€772.1m).
