Iman Beney described 2024/25 as a ‘beautiful season’ having played a starring role in BSC Young Boys Frauen’s march to the Swiss Super League title.

The teenage attacker, City’s second summer recruit following the arrival of Jade Rose, helped Young Boys end a 14-year wait for the league crown with a penalty shootout win over GC Zurich.

Beney scored the decisive spot kick in that shootout and was named alongside two of her team-mates in the 2024/25 Team of the Season, voted for by fellow players.

It’s a campaign the 18-year-old looks back on with immense pride as she begins the next chapter in her exciting young career.

Speaking about being named in the 2024/25 Team of the Season, she said: “I always play with confidence, but it’s always nice to be recognised by the other players.

“It was a beautiful season for Young Boys. We won the league and the play-offs, so it was really nice.”

On the title-winning penalty, Beney added: “I think in the moment, I don’t think about a lot of things other than I just need to make it happen.

“I don’t have any pressure. I just want to give my best every time and help the team.”

But the focus is firmly on what Beney can achieve moving forward, and her ambitions are clear.

She not only wants to help the Blues qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season but do so having won silverware along the way.

“For the new season, I want to win this league and City do as well. So, I think it’s pretty good,” Beney said.

“City are a club who like to keep possession, and I really like to have the ball, so I think it’s a good fit.

“It’s been really nice. It’s really different to Switzerland, but I’m looking forward to seeing all of the facilities.”
