Ben White leaves England squad for personal reasons

The Football Association have confirmed that Ben White has left the England squad for personal reasons.

White has so far failed to play at this World Cup, sitting behind Harry Maguire and John Stones in the pecking order.

But he will not play any further part in Qatar as the FA have revealed that the Arsenal man is now travelling back to the UK.

In a statement the FA said: “Ben White has left England’s training base in Al Wakrah and returned home for personal reasons.

“The Arsenal defender is not expected to return to the squad for the remainder of the tournament.

“We ask that the player’s privacy is respected at this moment in time.”

England will be unable to call upon a replacement for their next game against Senegal in the last 16 on Sunday.
