Celtic FC B forward, Ben Quinn is looking forward to playing a match on home soil, as the young Hoops take on Sligo Rovers later this evening (Tuesday).

However, most of all, the winger and his team-mates are using the trip to continue their hard work in pre-season, with the match against the League of Ireland Premier Division side, offering another opportunity to get minutes in the legs.

Speaking ahead of the match, Quinn assessed how the pre-season preparations have gone so far over the last few weeks, as the Bhoys aim to build on another strong season last campaign.

He said: “Pre-season has been good so far, we have all been working hard. It has been tough but everyone is putting the work in.

'We have had a few games now, and we are looking forward to the next few, starting with tonight against Sligo Rovers.'

"We had a good season last year. This season is maybe going to be a wee bit different at first, because we are changing our style of play a little, which is good and exciting!

“So from here, it’s just about continuing the hard work.”

With another busy season to come this year, the young Hoops will go up against a whole host of different opposition.

So the match against Sligo Rovers will provide a tough test ahead of the league campaign getting underway later this month.

Quinn is looking forward to putting himself up against more experienced players, following his first full campaign with the B Team last season.

The 19-year-old is aiming to make an impression, not only for the season ahead, but also with the opportunity to play on home soil in Ireland with the Celts.

“Tonight’s game against Sligo Rovers should be a good test,” he said.

“Going up against men and experienced players will be different for us, but it will be a good challenge.

‘We will go and look to try put in a good performance.’

“It’s good to be back playing football back home in Ireland! So I’ll try to make an impression on the fans here.”
