Ben Chilwell has picked a bad time to pick up the first direct red card of his career.
Having been outpaced by Rodrygo, the England international was taking no risks of conceding another goal during Chelseaâs quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid.

He subsequently decided to take the winger down from behind, forcing the referee to send him off.

This comes just a few days after Chilwell put pen to paper on a brand new deal at Chelsea, committing himself to the club until 2027.
As a result, Chilwell will miss the second leg against Los Blancos in London.
