Ben Chilwell mystery grows as Marcos Alonso starts again

Chelsea are in action in the Champions League tonight, and Thomas Tuchel has put out a very strong team.

As you might expect, the Blues boss is looking to win all the group games early on, meaning he can potentially rest senior figures later in the campaign.

One rotation we did expect to see however, was Ben Chilwell coming in for Marcos Alonso. Alonso started the first games of the season against Villareal and Crystal Palace because Chilwell had only just returned from holiday, and has since kept his place.

It made sense to keep the in-form and fit Spaniard playing – but it’s now our 6th game of the season and Chilwell hasn’t played a minute. He didn’t feature for England this summer either, meaning his last game was the Champions League final in May.

Thomas Tuchel addressed the issue in his press conference, and insisted there was nothing unusual about it – but if this carries on we might start getting suspicious.
