Bellingham could be a problem for Mbappe at Real Madrid, says ex-Arsenal star: “Can you imagine?” | OneFootball

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Arsenal and Barcelona star Emmanuel Petit has advised Kylian Mbappe to not join Real Madrid in the summer.

Mbappe, 25, is in the final year of his contract with PSG and is tipped to sign for Los Blancos as a free agent in the summer transfer window.

It was suggested earlier this month that an agreement might already be in place between the two parties, although the French superstar’s entourage has denied that.

Mbappe told to avoid Real Madrid

With his future still hanging in the balance, Mbappe has been told to avoid joining Real Madrid as he may no longer be as wanted at the club as he was two years ago.

“Madrid was ready to deliver the red carpet out for Mbappe with such a huge amount of money. They were ready to break the bank for him,” the ex-Barcelona and Chelsea star said.

“What happened afterwards is not the same situation now. Why? Because they felt probably betrayed, Madrid. I don’t know if that is right or not but this is the situation.”

Further adding on the matter, he said: “If he goes over there, he will have to prove that he is Mbappe, one of the best players in the world. It won’t be easy because he is not welcome the same way he was welcome 18 months ago.

“So everything has changed since then. If I am Mbappe I would ask the question myself: ‘If I really wanted to go to Real Madrid, I would have gone 18 months ago, why now?'”

Bellingham’s presence could be a problem for Mbappe, says Petit

On top of that, Petit went on to claim that the presence of Jude Bellingham in the Real Madrid dressing room could become an issue for Mbappe, for the Englishman is now the biggest star at the Spanish capital club.

“On top of this, you have got Bellingham. He is the star of Madrid right now. Do you think you can have mini-stars who can shine at Madrid?”

“For me, the choice is between Madrid and the Premier League. Can you imagine Bellingham if he comes to Real Madrid? They would have to change the wages for him,” he further stated.

“He is free. That means that he will receive a lot of money. Do you know how it works in the dressing room? The big players want to be the best earners.

“If they have a feeling that somebody has come from nowhere, not nowhere but you know what I mean, but he earns more than me? That could be the start of throwing him to the dressing room.”

Considering how Bellingham has settled in at Real Madrid and formed a close kinship with all of his teammates, including the likes of Vinicius Jr. and Eduardo Camavinga, Petit’s comments might come out as a bit outlandish.

Either way, it remains to be seen what Mbappe chooses in the weeks to come.
