With an imperious performance from the midfield and a solid defence, Real Madrid overcame the Girona challenge in La Liga.

Several players stood out for the Merengues in this game, with Jude Bellingham, Luka Modric, and Arda Guler putting in some eye-catching performances. Ferland Mendy was ruled out for a few weeks due to an injury after this match.

Here is how the Real Madrid players fared against Girona.

Player ratings:

Thibaut Courtois: 7.5

Faced 10 shots at goal, making 4 saves out of them and also keeping the ball out of danger multiple times during the match. A great cleansheet to keep for the Belgian.

Lucas Vazquez: 6.5

Struggled keeping up against youngster Bryan Gil as his speed proved to be too much. Lucas’ workrate is immense but lacks the defensive qualities needed.

Aurelien Tchouaméni: 7.5

Some of his great outings have come in this position and something similar happened in yesterday’s match. Did well with Rüdiger, was shaky a bit but did not cause too much damage. His header from a set piece was saved by Gazzaniga from close range.

Antonio Rüdiger: 7.5

Another solid day at the office for the German. Kept the defence together despite some mistakes. Did not let the Girona attack past him on numerous occasions.

Ferland Mendy: 7.0

Decent match for him to say the least – after a string of poor performances. Did well with his marker and made a few surprise overlapping runs as well.

Fede Valverde: 7.5

Seemed in high spirits after that mistake against Bilbao and provided immense workrate, especially on the right flank.

Luka Modric: 8.5

He played like one of those prodigies in their prime years and surely showed them how it’s done. Was involved in the buildup to all the three goals and became the first player in La Liga to complete 100+ accurate passes in a game. A master of his craft.

Jude Bellingham: 9.0

What can’t he do? It seems everything is a piece of cake to him. Caused troubles in the midfield when Girona had the ball and made life hell for them. Ultimately, netted a goal, scoring his 4th goal against the home side. His substitution after a physical problem clearly had the Real Madrid fans rattled.

Brahim Diaz: 6.5

For now it seems like he would be better as a substitute since the first half was not his best display but slowly grew on the latter half. Would motivate himself to do better.

Arda Güler: 8.0

The Turk really needed that goal. Badly. His first goal for the club this season finally arrived in an important fixture and his confidence would have skyrocketed by now. Needs to stay grounded as from here on, Arda will be thrown into more difficult situations.

Kylian Mbappe: 8.0

Scored his 9th goal in La Liga and it was quite impressive one, looking at the angle from which he scored. Hopefully the Frenchman keeps up with his form in the Champions League fixture against Atalanta.

Substitutes:

Dani Ceballos: 6.0

Came on for Jude and kept the ball safe and sound, playing around 25-30 passes.

Fran García: N/A

Was on the pitch for 11 minutes but no defensive actions and just making 9 passes is not enough to warrant a rating.

Raul Asencio: N/A

Similar story like Fran. 11 minutes also but 8 passes. Not enough to warrant a rating.

Endrick: N/A
