The agent of young Belgian goalkeeper Tobe Leysen feels that interest in the player from Inter Milan is a “positive.”

The 21-year-old’s representative Mark Volders spoke to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, regarding the fact that former Nerazzurri captain Samir Handanovic had observed the player at a recent match.

Former Inter captain Handanovic is taking on a new role at Inter after hanging up his gloves.

The 39-year-old is now working as a kind of scout and advisor for the club.

Reports suggest that Handanovic is now working to help identify future goalkeeping targets.

Inter are always on the lookout for prospective new signings in that department.

Particularly with Yann Sommer now well into his thirties, the Nerazzurri are considering what options are out there to replace the Swiss international.

And then there is the question of prospects for the future.

Reports suggest that Handanovic will be involved in the scouting as well as the decision-making process in terms of prospective goalkeeping signings for the future.

One such potential candidate appears to be young Belgian keeper Leysen.

At 21 years of age, the Leuven keeper would certainly appear to be more of a prospect for the future rather than the more immediate present.

But Handanovic has already gone to watch Leysen. The Slovenian was at a recent match between Leuven and Belgian giants Standard Liege.

The express purpose of the former keeper’s visit was a scouting brief. He was following the performance of young keeper Leysen.

And for his part, the player’s agent is happy that his client is attracting this sort of attention.

Agent Of Tobe Leysen: Interest From Inter A “Positive”

Leysen came through the academy of Belgian club Genk.

However, the 21-year-old left Genk last summer. He made the switch to Leuven, also in the Belgian top flight.

And it is there that Leysen is starting to break out in the first team.

This has started to attract attention – including from Inter.

Meanwhile, Leysen also has made appearances for Belgium at various youth team levels.

Leysen’s agent said that the player is “proud and honoured” by the interest from Inter.

Of being scouted by Handanovic, the agent said that “Handanovic was a phenomenal goalkeeper, of the highest level.”

“That he came to Belgium to watch Leysen is really positive.”

“But he’s doing well, so it’s normal that top clubs in Italy as well as elsewhere are following him.”

“Now, however, Tobe is only focused on the present, which is at Leuven.”
