Starting off a fine 3-1 away win, Romeo Vermant put Club Brugge ahead against Rangers after just three minutes in the Champions League. It was a goal that, according to analysts in the VTM studio, he “made look easy.”
Although a misunderstanding between defender Nasser Djiga and goalkeeper Jack Butland led to Club Brugge’s early 0-1 lead, Romeo Vermant’s finishing was remarkably impressive. “This is already his second important goal,” Marc Degryse claimed. “Good for him.”
Degryse added further context after Club Brugge darted out into an early lead: “The match has barely been going on for two minutes, you’re not really in the game yet. But Vermant doesn’t hesitate, that’s impressive, and his execution is perfect.”
“If you take the ball and wait a little longer, you’re in trouble. Then you have to start dribbling past the goalkeeper. But he lays it off with great feeling.”
“That was indeed the perfect execution,” added Frank Boeckx. “He makes this goal look easy. You can start to doubt it at a moment like that, but he does it with great confidence. Vermant is a striker who is clinical in and around the box.”
There have been some doubts surrounding Vermant in recent weeks. “But this will be good for him,” says Degryse. “He already scored against Salzburg. Those are two very important goals. Good for him.”
