Anderlecht put in a strong title challenge last season as they chased a 35th Pro League title. However, they were unable to maintain their challenge during the play-offs and ultimately fell short. Transfers in: None

Transfers out: Zeno Debast (Sporting CP), Kasper Schmeichel (Celtic)

Overview:

Anderlecht have been slow off the mark this summer and there are plenty of gaps in the squad ahead of the opening round of matches. With Kasper Schmeichel having left, the side are looking at either Colin Coosemans or Mads Kikkenborg to start in goal. At the back, there is only one recognised defender in 37-year-old Jan Vertonghen, who recently signed a new deal.

The side still has plenty of attacking talent in the likes of Anders Dreyer, Kasper Dolberg and the young Mario Stroeykens. They are expected to bring in defensive reinforcements before the end of the window, but they may well suffer a slow start as a result. Given that they also have European football to contend with this season, multiple defensive options are needed. They are also expected to sell a number of players to free up wages for incoming players that can contribute.

Anderlecht fans will just have to have faith that there is a plan which will see them strengthen by the end of the window so that a title challenge can be maintained alongside a European campaign.
