Liverpool will reportedly need to pay €30m to land Anderlecht forward Jeremy Doku before the end of the transfer window.
According to Belgian outlet HBVL, Anderlecht value Doku at €30m and would be prepared to let him leave the club at that price.
The report also claims that Anderlecht would, ideally, be given Doku back on loan for the rest of the 2020/21 campaign to continue his development.
Whilst the report says that Liverpool could make an offer for Doku, it is not clear whether or not the club would be willing to match Anderlecht’s demands for the teenager.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Despite only turning 18 earlier this year, Doku played over 20 league games for Anderlecht last season and scored three goals. He has also made a superb start to the current campaign, with two goals and three assists in six appearances, showing how much talent he has at such a young age.
Being able to produce at first-team level in a competitive environment at that age suggests that he has the potential to be a top striker in the future. However, Liverpool already have Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster at the club, so a €30m deal for a forward who only has potential at this time may not be the best piece of business.
Instead, Liverpool could track his progress in Belgium over the next 12 months and then make a decision next summer. If Doku is able to continue his excellent form and show development in his game, then it could be a deal that Liverpool revisit and find value in.
