Behind only Arsenal, Man Utd have been fined six-figure sum for referee abuse | OneFootball

According to The Sun, Manchester United have paid the second highest fines for referee abuse this season behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

The Red Devils have been the subject of several dubious decisions from referees this term and the goalless draw against Southampton was a prime example.

Casemiro was sent off by referee Anthony Taylor for a challenge on Carlos Alcaraz but replays showed that the Brazilian got the ball first before making contact with the player’s knee.

The club were also denied two penalties in the same game. Similarly, Casemiro was unlucky to be red carded against Crystal Palace when he was only holding the collar of Will Hughes.

Hence, there are no surprises that many United stars have expressed their frustration this season but crossing the limit with foul language will obviously lead to fines.

The Sun now reveal that United are one of three clubs including Arsenal and Everton, who have parted with six-figure sums this season for cornering the referee.

While Arsenal have paid the highest fines at £185,000, United are not far behind, shelling out £135,000. The Toffees are third on the list with fines amounting to £115,000.

Fulham are currently ranked 10th with just £27,500 paid, but they could easily break the six-figure bracket after the poor behaviour of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Marco Silva.

While Silva was sent off for foul language towards Chris Kavanagh on Sunday, Mitrovic was given his marching orders on the pitch after his blatant push of the referee.

The Football Association are now taking strict actions on players’ behaviour towards officials but it can’t be denied that United have been the subject of several poor decisions.
