According to Sacha Tavolieri, Beerschot are looking to sign Swedish midfielder Bilal Hussein from Hertha Berlin. The side, who are currently bottom of the Belgian Pro League, are under a transfer embargo. However, the side are confident that will be lifted early this week and that they will be able to make signings in January to help bolster their chances of survival.

Hussein has rarely featured for the side from the German capital. The 24-year-old has played more for the second team than for the first team this season, having joined Hertha from AIK of Stockholm in the summer of 2023. Valued at around €400k by Transfermarkt, Hussein’s current contract runs until the end of the 2025/2026 season. Hussein will depart Hertha having made just 18 appearances, with one goal and one assist. Prior to leaving Sweden for Germany the midfielder had played 144 games for AIK, scoring six goals and grabbing 13 assists.
