Newcastle dominated a fair amount of their games this season, but having faced Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup earlier in the campaign, there’s a clear gulf in class.

Wolves missed out narrowly on winning the division Newcastle will find themselves in next season and the Midlands outfit breezed past the Lasses winning 5-0 at Kingston Park.

Becky Langley excited for next season’s challenge

However, if Newcastle are to match the ambitions PIF have for the club, then they will have to make the step up successfully while also making some smart recruitment.

Becky Langley is certainly not shying away from the tough tests ahead next season and is instead, looking forward to playing against better opposition, she said:

“Tier Three I can’t wait, I want to be playing against top teams in that league and I just want that challenge.”

Staveley will be keen to see a continued improvement

Amanda Staveley has spoken openly in the past about her dreams of getting Newcastle into the WSL and Champions League in the future, which has certainly raised expectation levels on Tyneside.

While that is still a far-away dream as things stand with back-to-back promotions being required, Newcastle will certainly be dreaming of having both their Women’s and Men’s teams fighting at the top.

The Geordie faithful have shown there is a keen interest in the women’s team this season with blockbuster attendances at St James’ Park twice and consistent numbers turning out at Kingston Park.
