Manchester United’s signing of Bebe is one of the club’s strangest deals in recent history.

In 2010, just five weeks after he signed for Vitória de Guimarães, Man United paid £7.4 million for Bebe’s services.

But it was soon apparent that Bebe, who was just 20 years old at the time, was not up to the standard required at United.

He played just seven times for the club, scoring twice, before departing in 2014.

Now 31 years old, Bebe is plying his trade in Spain with Rayo Vallecano.

He was on the bench for his side’s Copa del Rey semi-final second leg clash with Real Betis.

The Portuguese entered the fray in the 77th minute with the game goalless and Rayo trailing 2-1 in the tie.

Rayo desperately needed a goal and Bebe provided it in incredible fasion.

Rayo were given a free-kick roughly 35 yards out just three minutes after Bebe came on. The veteran forward stepped up and unleashed an unstoppable effort that rocketed into the net.

Betis’ goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo, had absolutely no chance.

It was a truly exquisite free-kick and you can watch it below…

Absolutely stunning from Bebe. That was his first goal of the season and what a way to finally get off the mark for the campaign.

Unfortunately it was not enough as Betis scored a dramatic late winner to break Rayo’s hearts.

Sergio Canales found Borja Iglesias at the back post and the Spanish striker had the easy task of finding the net from just a yard out.

Betis will now play Valencia in the final. The tie will take place on April 23.
