Aaron Anselmino remains an important part of the future plans at Chelsea despite his loan move to Borussia Dortmund according to reports.
Dortmund have reached an agreement to sign Anselmino on loan with no buy option, and the 20-year-old will return to Chelsea in June 2026.
The Blues agreed a deal worth around £15m to sign Anselmino from Boca Juniors last summer, and are believed to rate the Argentine highly.
Anselmino was originally meant to spend the season back on loan at Boca, but Chelsea decided to recall him in January.
However, Anselmino didn’t play a minute of football over the second half of the season, but was part of the squad for the Club World Cup.
Anselmino will spend this season on loan at Dortmund.
The Argentine made his debut in America, but featured for just two minutes across the entire tournament, and his chances of regular football at Chelsea this season were slim to none.
The loan to Dortmund will give Anselmino the opportunity to play in a European League for the first time, and at a club who are known for developing young players and giving them chances.
There’s also the opportunity to play Champions League football, and it will be interesting to see how he develops this season.
What Chelsea’s long term plan for Anselmino is remains to be seen, however BBC Sport have reported the youngster remains an important part of the future plans at Stamford Bridge.
Anselmino isn’t the only Chelsea player making the move to Dortmund, and the German club have finally agreed a deal for Chukwuemeka.
