Never mind Homes Under The Hammer… it was Manchester United who were being hammered by their former striker and daytime TV presenter Dion Dublin during Sunday’s scintillating win for Liverpool at Old Trafford.
The ex-forward, working as a pundit on BBC Five Live, slammed the United players’ response when Dominik Szoboszlai effectively showboated in their box at the cost of what should have been a nose-rubbing fourth goal for Liverpool.
“Szoboszlai has tried to score an easy goal there, he's tried to make the United players look silly,” assessed Dublin during the live commentary.
“That should make the United players angry.”
No such anger was forthcoming from Erik ten Hag’s lacklustre outfit. And although Liverpool fans may lament the scoreline therefore not being as emphatic as it could have been, the wonderful build-up before Szoboszlai teasingly delayed his second-half shot was a joy to behold.
Arne Slot’s midfield trio provided the heartbeat of a handsome performance, with Dublin admiring afterwards: “I thought Szoboszlai and [Alexis] Mac Allister were great but [Ryan] Gravenberch was man of the match.
“Liverpool worked so hard out of possession and United looked all over the place, they were miles off it.
“It was a brilliant day for Liverpool. They looked in charge. It looked like men against boys.”
Some of Dublin’s fellow pundits may already be eating their words, having tipped the Anfield outfit for a drop-off in the wake of Jurgen Klopp’s departure and expecting a big improvement on United’s eighth place last season after their big-spending summer.

“Slot hasn't tried to rewrite anything,” said Dublin. “He's made small tweaks. He's gone into Liverpool and tweaked it so they play how he wants. They look so smooth.
“They're not as explosive as they were under Klopp but they look more organised. They look as though they know what they're doing and they seem more composed under pressure.
“To come here to Old Trafford and win this game like they have, fair play to them.”
