Just over a year ago, Bayern travelled to Gelsenkirchen and were beaten 3-0 but their supporters had rather more to cheer about on this occasion.
“Good morning!” wrote Thomas Müller via his official Facebook page on Sunday.
“I hope we have brightened all FC Bayern fans with yesterday’s victory over Schalke on the Oktoberfest start.”
But the Bundesliga champions’ packed schedule means they won’t get to enjoy any beer themselves just yet. Niko Kovač’s side host Augsburg on Tuesday before they travel to face Hertha BSC just three days later on Friday night.
“We have our team Oktoberfest on the last Sunday of Oktoberfest,” sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić told the club’s official website.
“Until then, they might be allowed a shandy.”
Oktoberfest runs from 22 September to 7 October and Bayern haven’t lost a league game which took place during the festival since way back in 2010 (22 wins, six draws).
