Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is having a wonderful season at Bayern Munich.
After the sale of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona for around £45 million, the German side were in need of an out-and-out striker to step up for the team.
Many thought that would be Sadio Mane after his arrival from Liverpool, but it’s Choupo-Moting who’s arguably had more of an impact in 2022/23 thus far.
The Cameroonian forward has led the line magnificently in recent weeks and is scoring goals aplenty for the Bavarian outfit.
On Tuesday evening in Bayern’s match against Inter Milan, Choupo-Moting bagged his fourth goal in the Champions League so far this season – and it was one of his best ever strikes.
The man who once represented – and failed at – Stoke City picked up the ball around 25 yards from goal and after taking aim, he produced an absolute thunderbolt into the top corner.
Both Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic could’ve been in the Inter goal and neither of them would have got a hand to the shot.
Check out the goal in all its glory…
What a beauty!
A bit different to his infamous miss in a Paris Saint-Germain shirt, eh?
It’s crazy to think that Choupo-Moting was once a figure of ridicule. Now, he’s balling in the Champions League and is a key man at Bayern – what a brilliant story.
For the sixth time this season, Bayern recorded a victory in the Champions League group stage to take them to 18 points overall.
The masters of the round beat Inter 2-0 on home soil, Choupo-Moting and Benjamin Pavard the scorers on the night.
Bayern’s 100% record is also supported by a hugely impressive +16 goal difference and while they’ve not been at their best in the Bundesliga of late, Julian Nagelsmann’s side are going to be a huge threat in the Champions League knockout rounds.
Especially with Choupo-Moting now doing Lewandowski impressions each week.
