With Bayern Munich on the verge of securing the league title. Bild inquired whether the trophy ceremony will be in matchday 33 or the final weekend. The magazine contacted DFL about the plans, and they report that a final decision is still pending.
Vincent Kompany’s side will even have a chance to wrap up the championship tomorrow in Leipzig. Naturally, Bayern hope to hold the trophy presentation in front of their fans after the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach next Saturday.
However, according to Bild’s journalist Christian Falk, Thomas Müller’s farewell game at the Allianz Arena could affect the date. "A Thomas Müller farewell only happens once in a lifetime – and only once in the club's history," explained Falk in Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast.
Müller should be in the spotlight for his last home game, but he can’t celebrate the occasion with the Meisterschale in his hands if they’re going to receive the prize the following week in Hoffenheim.
On the podcast. Tobi Altschäffl hinted that club captain Manuel Neuer could be willing to personally present the trophy to the 35-year-old. Amazon’s documentary series on Müller – "Einer wie keiner" (One Like No Other) – will ideally have exclusive access for the whole process. Nonetheless, Müller and Bayern first set their sight on sealing the title tomorrow.
