On Monday evening, David Ornstein of The Athletic claimed that Bayern Munich have absolutely no intention of including David Alaba in a potential swap deal for Manchester City’s Leroy Sané.
Even though Alaba’s current deal with Bayern expires next summer and no progress has been made regarding a new contract, it’s believed that Bayern would rather have Alaba stay at the club and lose him for nothing next year.
This is because Bayern say Alaba is vital to the club’s success and will hope they can convince the Austrian to stay in these final 12 months.
Though Alaba is primarily a left-back, he’s had to make way and convert back to a centre-back due to the astounding success of Alphonso Davies.
Manchester City, who are in desperate need of centre-back help, are big fans of the versatile 28-year-old, especially since Pep Guardiola and Alaba established a fantastic relationship at Bayern during their three title-winning seasons together.
However, it appears City will have to look elsewhere to fill their massive hole in their back line.
