Bayern stumble against Hoffenheim

Scorers: Pavard 17′; Kramarić 71′

Following a shock DFB Pokal exit and a loss in the Champions League quarter-finals, Bayern stumbled once again in a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim.

The reigning champions had to dig deep to find the back of the net, having only scored twice in three games coming into this one.

Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman were eager, but Benjamin Pavard was one of the liveliest stars and subsequently opened the scoring with their first shot on target from point-blank range.

The hosts, meanwhile, recorded zero shots in the 45 minutes and had to come out with a new game plan in the second half if they wanted to get back into the match.

But instead of ramping up their attack, Hoffenheim relied on their defence and remained composed at the back to prevent the hosts from finding another.

Eventually, one glorious opportunity saw Andrej Kramarić expertly place his free-kick beyond Yann Sommer for 1-1 with 20 minutes to go.

Jamal Musiala, Mathys Tel, and Ryan Gravenberch aided Bayern’s attack off the bench, but the hosts couldn’t find another goal. Pavard did have one ruled out by VAR, though.

The draw means leaders Bayern have won only two games in all competitions under Thomas Tuchel. Hoffenheim, meanwhile, move away from relegation and into 13th.

BVB collapse against 10-man Stuttgart

Scorers: Coulibaly 77′, Vagnoman 84′, Mvumpa 90+7′; Haller 26′, Malen 33′, Reyna 90+2′

It was a thrilling result for the title race as Stuttgart fought back from 0-2 down to draw Dortmund 3-3 in dramatic fashion.

The visitors edged the stats regarding possession and shots, with Fabian Bredlow needing to pull off a double save from Sebastien Haller and Julian Brandt early on.

But the visitors would find the back of the net with the Ivory Coast international’s second chance as he redirected the ball in off the crossbar.

Stuttgart, however, almost found the net themselves as Gregor Kobel denied Serhou Guirassy, and Mats Hummels almost conceded an own goal.

Donyell Malen’s driving run then turned things 2-0 before things got worse for the hosts. The aforementioned scorer was clipped on his heels, seeing Konstantinos Mavropanos pick up a second yellow and go walking.

Coming out into the break, however, Dortmund failed to put the game away and instead mentally switched off, allowing the hosts back in the match.

Jude Bellingham hit the woodwork, and Marco Reus nor Youssoufa Moukoko could help off the bench, as it was a frustrating night for the visitors.

Tanguy Coulibaly then came off the bench to pull one back for the hosts after only three minutes of action before Josha Vagnoman capitalised on sloppy defending to pull level.

It looked as though the visitors would survive when Gio Reyna drilled home a loose ball in stoppage time, but another equaliser with seconds to go saw Silas Katompa Mvumpa turn things 3-3.

Dortmund missed a huge chance to go top of the table, while Stuttgart are 16th.
