Bayern Munich youngster Jamal Musiala has announced that he has chosen to play international football for Germany.

The 17-year-old was born in Stuttgart to a German mother and British-Nigerian father before moving to England at the age of seven.

After his emergence this season, including a goal in Bayern’s 4-1 Champions League win over Lazio on Tuesday, there has been great speculation over his international future. But Musiala has now made his decision.

“England is home for me. It is difficult to find words for what England means for me because I have so many memories connected to very positive emotions,” he told The Athletic.

“I have a heart for Germany and a heart for England and both hearts will keep on beating but I’ve thought a lot about what’s best for my future.

“Where do I have more chances to play? In the end, I just listened to the feeling that over a long period of time kept telling me it was the right decision to play for Germany, the land where I was born.

“Still, it wasn’t an easy decision for me.”

The attacking midfielder had previously represented both countries at underage level, although mostly featured for England.

However, he will now be exclusively available for selection for Die Mannschaft going forward.
