Köln should have snatched an unlikely lead in the opening 20 minutes when Sargis Adamyan connected with a point-blank header on the break, but his effort was sent straight at stand-in Bayern keeper Sven Ulreich.

Bayern missed a glorious chance of their own however, as Mathys Tel sent his shot from inside the box flying off the woodwork in the dying minutes of the first-half.

After knocking on the door continuously, Bayern finally cracked it open through Raphaël Guerreiro, who lashed home from outside the box to open the scoring in style.

A late Thomas Müller strike eased the tension inside the Allianz Arena, putting an end to the clash.

The narrow victory ensures Bayer Leverkusen will not win the title until Sunday at least.

10-men Dortmund see off Gladbach

Scorers: Sabitzer 22′, 28′ (P) ; Wöber 36′

It was one-way traffic for Dortmund in the early going, and it took them just over 20 minutes to reap rewards for their efforts.

The opener was secured by Marcel Sabitzer from the left-side of the box, but the midfielder would not stop there.

After Gladbach conceded a penalty less than 10 minutes later, Sabitzer stepped up to convert and bag his first-half brace.

A thrashing was not on the cards however, as Maximilian Wöber cut the Dortmund lead in half less than 10 minutes before the break to bring Gladbach back into the affair.

The clash was flipped on its head after the break however, as Karim Adeyemi was sent off for his second yellow-card of the afternoon, opening a door for the home side to pull level, or even snatch the win.

Luckily for the visitors, the numerical inferiority would not come back to haunt them, as they held on to collect all three points and go level on points with fourth place RB Leipzig.
