Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer has sang the praises of new head coach Julian Nagelsmann as the club looks ahead to a new era.

The 34-year-old is preparing for his first season at the Allianz Arena after arriving from Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig.

It will be only Nagelsmann’s sixth full season in management, and without a trophy in his small career to date, the pressure will be only the new man in charge.

But Hainer, speaking to the club website, is full of optimism ahead of the 2021/22 campaign and how Nagelsmann will implement a new policy in Bavaria.

“Bayern no longer want to spend a lot of money on expensive stars in the future, but rather train the future stars themselves on their Bayern campus, just like Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Müller or David Alaba once did.

“He (Nagelsmann) should ensure an even closer connection between the youth teams and the professional team in order to have more and more own players in the men’s area in the future.

“That would not only have financial advantages for us in terms of squad planning, but we also want to achieve success for the investments in our campus.”

Bayern’s next friendly is with Serie A side Napoli on Saturday.
