Having recently announced contract extensions for Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala, Bayern Munich are now working on tying Joshua Kimmich down to a new deal.

Kimmich is out of contract at the end of the season and his future remains up in the air, but Bayern president Herbert Hainer is optimistic of keeping the 30-year-old at the club.

"Jo obviously wants to have a team with which he can play for titles," Hainer told Bayerischer Rundfunk.

"I'm sure he sees from the contract extensions with players like Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala, but also from the signings of young players like Jonas Urbig and Tom Bischof, that FC Bayern are always ready to achieve the highest sporting goals."

Hainer added that he's "cautiously optimistic" that it will be possible to extend Kimmich's contract.

“At the end of the day, it's up to him to make a decision, but he knows what he has at Bayern.”
