According to Lance, Bayern Munich took to Instagram on Friday with a tongue-in-cheek nod to a popular meme among Flamengo supporters just days before their high-stakes Club World Cup clash in Miami. The German club posted an image of Manuel Neuer, captioned with the phrase, “Todo mundo vira o Neuer contra o Flamengo”, or “Everyone turns into Neuer against Flamengo.” The meme references the regular occurrence cited by Flamengo fans, where opposing goalkeepers seem to produce world-class performances specifically against their team.
Bayern’s playful jab quickly made the rounds among both Brazilian and German fans, generating a flurry of humorous comments and adding extra spice to the build-up ahead of Sunday’s match at the Hard Rock Stadium. The social media move comes as anticipation intensifies for a contest that will send the winner to face either Paris Saint-Germain or Inter Miami in the Club World Cup round of 16.
This banter on Bayern’s part comes as both clubs make final preparations. Flamengo, coming off a competitive group phase, have relied recently on tactical flexibility and the rise of youngsters like Wallace Yan, while captain Arrascaeta and midfielder De La Cruz have been fitness concerns. Meanwhile, Bayern enter the tie after mixed group-stage displays and have had to manage key injuries themselves, though they still boast the experience and attacking threat of players like Harry Kane.
As the fixture draws near, Bayern’s digital humour signals respect, but also the competitive edge both teams will bring to the pitch. Flamengo fans, known for their fervent support, are expected to dominate the Miami crowd, further fueling the already charged atmosphere between South America’s reigning champions and Germany’s perennial powerhouse.
