Bayern Munich’s plan with Alexander Nübel

BILD report today that Bayern Munich wish to extend the contract of Alexander Nübel beyond the summer, with the possibility of again sending the player out on loan to Stuttgart next season.

Nübel (27) has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga this season, bettered only by Bayer Leverkusen’s Lukas Hradecky. In order to join Stuttgart on loan last summer, Nübel took a salary cut but there’s now hope that he will be playing at Stuttgart beyond the end of the season.

While Manuel Neuer (37) remains at Bayern Munich, there’s little chance that Nübel will feature for Bayern Munich, more so when you take into account the pairs relationship. However, while Stuttgart would be open to signing Nübel on a permanent basis, they cannot currently afford the goalkeeper, and so a contract extension at Bayern and a further loan spell appears to be the best option for both parties.

But although no concrete discussions between Bayern Munich and Nübel’s representatives, a decision is expected to be reached in February or March.

Nübel has featured in every game for Stuttgart this season, conceding 19 goals in 19 games across all competitions, keeping two clean sheets.
