Bayern Munich have been handed a scheduling reprieve by the German FA (DFB).
Hansi Flick’s side were originally supposed to face Holstein Kiel in the DFB Pokal on 23 December 2020.
But due to their already congested fixture schedule in the run up to Christmas, the Bundesliga champions asked the DFB if the match could be moved.
And the club confirmed via their official website on Friday that their wish has been granted. The match will instead take at Kiel’s Holstein-Stadion at 20:45 CET on 13 January 2021.
Bayern still have nine games in all competitions to come in 2020 but if the Holstein Kiel game had been played before Christmas as originally planned, the European champions would have been facing four fixtures in just 11 days.
And with the winter break being shortened to just two weeks due to the already truncated nature of this season, they will no doubt take whatever rest time they can get.
