With the football on hold at the moment, weâve been thinking about who gets in Bayern Munichâs all-time XI.
Today weâre choosing the goalkeeper.
Here are the nominees âŠ
Sepp Maier will go down in German football history, earning 95 caps for West Germany as they won the European Championships in 1972 followed by the World Cup in 1974.
He was also everpresent in the period that made Bayern Munich one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Maier was in goal as Bayern won four Bundesliga titles and three European Cups between 1965 and 1976, and will forever go down in football folklore for being the goalkeeper on the receiving end of the original Panenka penalty.
A goalkeeper who revolutionised the position in modern-day football.
Neuer may not be the first version of a âsweeper-keeperâ but he is the player who has defined the genre. Now captain of the club, the 33-year-old has had a stellar career at the Allianz Arena.
A sometimes unbeatable force, the goalkeeper has led the club to seven Bundesliga titles and four DFB-Pokals.
More than just a goalkeeper.
It was always going to be close between Oliver Kahn and Neuer, and arguments will persist.
However, Kahn just edges it for winning the Champions League at the club, particularly for his role in bringing Europeâs most prestigious title back to Bavaria.
Kahn won the Man of the Match award for the 2000/01 win over Valencia, after saving three penalties in the decisive penalty shootout.
Add this title to the collection of eight Bundesliga championships and the fact that Kahn will soon be CEO at the club, and you have a real living club legend.
Check back tomorrow when we will be choosing Bayernâs greatest ever ⊠right-back.
