Bayern Munich wins against ticket scalper | OneFootball

The record German champions have won a legal battle against an individual ticket touting their home games.

An individual had bought tickets for games at the Allianz Arena from various sources and sold it at a higher price. FC Bayern challenged the ticket sale of their home games. The matter was heard in the 39th Civil Chamber at the Munich Regional Court.

The court specializes in Unfair Competition (UWG), and the right place for Bayern’s to protect the fans’ rights. The Bavarians had sought the court’s assistance in prohibiting the purchase of tickets and reselling them on the secondary market.

FC Hollywood went into court to uphold the general terms and conditions of their ticket sales. The Bavarian giants do not allow Allianz Arena tickets to be passed on to professional dealers or sales on unauthorized secondary platforms.

The event came to the club’s notice in late 2018, and initially, the club investigated the matter on its own. A test purchase from the dealer was made in February 2019. Two tickets were purchased for the Champions League quarter-final home game against Liverpool. The defendant demanded 6500 euros, while the original price was 1200 euros.

While the judgment is not final, the 39th Civil Chamber has largely upheld FC Bayern’s lawsuit. The court advised the undisclosed individual to stop the practice and directed him to pay damages to Bayern.
