According to media reports, Manuel Neuer is close to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich. The question between the club and the player is no longer whether the 35-year-old will stay in Munich, but rather how long he will stay.
Manuel Neuer is currently on contract with Bayern Munich until 2023. At 35 years of age, he is considered a veteran, but when you look at how he currently performs, you’d think he is still on his prime years. And that is why, the club is willing to extend his contract for few more years.
According to ‘Abendzeitung’, the club wants to give Neuer ‘at least’ a three years contract, which would keep him in until 2025.
Manuel Neuer struggled with two serious injuries during 2017 and early 2018. His injuries were affecting in his performances during 2018–19 season, where he was widely criticized for his poor performances. Thankfully, Neuer managed to prove all his doubters wrong.
Neuer told the medias: “As long as I’m fit, as long as I’m healthy, as long as I’m needed, as long as it’s fun, I’ll keep on playing”.
Which means, the club is most likely to keep the goalkeeper for more years, despite his recent meniscus injury on the knee.
