An injury-depleted Bayern Munich take on Inter in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

As if they hadn't already been hit hard enough by injuries, the Bavarians lost Jamal Musiala to a torn muscle bundle in Friday's 3-1 win over Augsburg.

The 21-year-old joins a long list of absentees that already includes long-term absentees Alphonso Davies (knee), Hiroki Ito (foot), Manuel Neuer (calf), Aleksandar Pavlovic (illness) and Dayot Upamecano (knee). Kingsley Coman is also likely to miss the game due to foot problems.

This leaves Bayern coach Vincent Kompany with little room for maneuver when it comes to changing his starting lineup for Tuesday's game. The Belgian coach could still make two alterations to the team that beat Augsburg, though, with one of them being a forced change.

Thomas Müller is likely to start in attacking midfield in place of the injured Musiala, while Leon Goretzka is expected to replace Joao Palhinha in midfield after recovering from a back problem

Bayern, who sit six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, will be buoyed by their recent form, with Kompany's men having won three and drawn one of their last four. They usually have the upper hand against Inter, having beaten the Italians five times in a row, most recently in 2022.

At the weekend, Inter were 2-0 up at Parma but had to settle for a disappointing 2-2 draw after allowing their opponents to come back into the game.

Alessandro Bastoni was forced off at half-time with a knee problem, but the centre-back is expected to be fit enough to face Bayern.

Mehdi Taremi (muscle), Piotr Zielinski (calf) and Denzel Dumfries (thigh) are all set to miss out through injury for the away side. Kristjan Asllani will also miss the first leg through suspension.
