With several problem areas still needing addressing, Bayern Munich have their transfer plans outlined headling into the January transfer window according to Bild.

The main problem areas for Bayern are a defensive midfielder as well as a centre-back. The target for the defensive midfield position is Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi. The 24-year-old has a release clause worth around €60m but it is more likely he could join in the summer.

An area that is seen as more important for Bayern is the centre-back position, since the departure of Benjamin Pavard in the summer, Bayern have yet to sign a replacement and their lack of depth in that position has been seen.

The targets for Bayern heading into the winter window are Giorgio Scalvini of Atalanta and Clermont Lenglet of Aston Villa. A move for Scalvini is difficult as he is under contract until 2027 and the Italian side does not want to lose the 19-year-old. While a move for Lenglet is seen as more realistic, the 28-year-old could be a backup option as he is relatively cheap but the only hurdle is the fact that he is currently on loan at Aston Villa from Barcelona.
