Chelsea are currently in pole position to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, with both Arsenal and Bayern Munich also pushing hard for the former PSG midfielder.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Leipzig signed the 22-year-old for €80 million—€55 million of that paid up front—and he remains under contract until June 2027. PSG included a sell-on clause in the deal, meaning they’re entitled to a cut of any future transfer fee.
The French side has already seen that strategy pay off this summer. According to The Athletic’s Adam Crafton, PSG earned €17 million (£15 million) from Hugo Ekitiké’s move to Liverpool thanks to a similar clause.
Romano also noted that Chelsea are making serious headway in talks over personal terms with Simons. The midfielder is reportedly open to the move and interested in joining the Premier League club, with discussions ongoing to finalize the deal.

Bild reports that Bayern Munich are interested in Xavi Simons, but the RB Leipzig midfielder is currently leaning toward a move to the Premier League.
TalkSPORT adds that Chelsea are preparing an opening bid for the 22-year-old, who is close to reaching an agreement on personal terms. Simons is still holding talks with other clubs, including Bayern and Arsenal, both of which remain strongly interested. He is expected to be available for under £60 million.
