A feel good factor has returned to Bayern Munich and the players have been quick to attribute the upturn in mood and fortunes to interim head coach Hansi Flick.

Saturday’s 4-0 win over Fortuna Düsseldorf maintained Flick’s 100% record since taking the reins following the dismissal of Nico Kovac on 3 November.

With three wins, 10 goals scored and none conceded, Flick has reinvigorated a Bayern squad that had undoubtedly gone stale under the stewardship of Kovac.

“It’s definitely fun. We have much more control than before,” said goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Another player enjoying a new lease of life under Flick is Thomas Müller.

Speaking after the win at Düsseldorf, the attacker announced: “That was a Bayern weekend, as we imagine it to be.”

Flick has encouraged a more attacking approach than his predecessor, a fact right-back Joshua Kimmich was keen to emphasise.

“As we start at the top, that is clearly the default of the coach,” Kimmich said.

High-profile coaches Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino continue to be linked to the permanent job at the Allianz Arena.

The Bayern hierarchy may well choose to pursue one or both of those options, but the players’ praise for Flick can certainly do his hopes of landing the role no harm at all.
