As confirmed in an official statement, Bayern Munich starlet Alex Timossi Andersson will remain at Austria Klagenfurt for another season. It seems the Austrian outfit have reached an agreement with the Bavarians over the extension of the loan contract. Andersson will now spend the entirety of the 2021/22 campaign at Klagenfurt before returning to Allianz Arena next summer.

Alex Timossi Andersson’s Story So Far

Hailing from the Swedish city of Helsingborg, Alex Timossi Andersson joined the Bayern Munich Academy in 2018. After spending two years with the U-19 team, he was shipped out on loan back to his former club Helsingborg, before returning to Bavaria at the end of last year.

Unfortunately, Andersson’s stay in Munich didn’t last long as the winger once again had to move out on loan. In February, he joined Austria Klagenfurt, a second division club from Austria, on a short-term loan deal.

Andersson made wise use of his opportunities at Klagenfurt, as he was involved in eight league goals in just 15 matches. His contributions in the final third helped the club secure promotion to the top-flight.

It was enough to convince the Austrian Bundesliga team to extend his loan stay to another season. It works out well for him, as the youngster looks to enhance his experience by playing in the top-flight of Austrian football in the upcoming season.

Does He Have A Future At Bayern?

Bayern Munich have no shortage of highly talented youngsters playing in their reserve squad. But unfortunately, very few of them have managed to make it to the senior team in recent years.

The likes of Adrian Fein, Lars Lukas Mai and Jann-Fiete Arp have all struggled to be even considered as part of the first team. On that note, it is difficult to envision a future for Alex Timossi Andersson at Bayern anytime soon.

However, a lot may depend on how he performs at Austria Klagenfurt next season. The youngster certainly needs to emerge as one of the best players in the 2021/22 Austrian Bundesliga to prove a point.

It is also fair to point out that new coach Julian Nagelsmann does like to work around young players. So if Andersson can continue to impress during his loan spells, there is a chance he may get a fair shot in the senior team in the near future, especially as the Bavarians gradually prepare for life without their old guards like Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer and Robert Lewandowski.
