Hoffenheim’s Tom Bischof (19) has signed a long-term contract with Bayern Munich until at least 2029 after passing a medical, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The German midfielder will join up with Vincent Kompany’s side in the summer when his contract in Sinsheim expires. A product of Hoffenheim’s youth academy, Bischof has played 53 games across all competitions since making his debut as a 16-year-old in March 2022.
He’s also been a standout performer in the Bundesliga this season. Although primarily a playmaker, Bischof has won 36 tackles this season, the most of any player in the league. He’s also in the 98th percentile for shot-creating actions and tackles, 96th percentile for blocks and 95th percentile for total shots per 90, when compared with players in similar positions in Europe’s top five leagues, per FBRef.
Bayern Munich also beat Eintracht Frankfurt in the race to sign Bischof and although difficult competition with Leon Goretzka, Aleksandar Pavlovic, the returning Paul Wanner et al. next season, the Rekordmeister have no intention of loaning out the 19-year-old despite initial reports.
